Introduction
There are 2 main topics in Exam 5: Reserving and Pricing. You can start with either topic but you must do the chapters in order because later chapters depend on material from earlier chapters.
Let's talk about how you can use the Ranking Table to plan your study schedule.
- The Ranking Table - Ordered by Chapter shows reserving articles/chapters on the left side and pricing articles/chapters on the right side. This table also shows the relative importance of each topic according to how frequently it appears on the exam, and a suggested amount of study time.
How to organize your time. Here's an example. A good place to begin is with the Friedland text as the first chapters are relatively easy. This can help you ease into study mode. Look at the relative importance of all the chapters and recommended study time to plan your study schedule. Not all topics are tested equally, so they don’t deserve equal amounts of your attention. This will save you a lot of valuable study time and help you focus your efforts on the material you need to know really well. If you use this information wisely, you can maximize your chances of passing the exam.
- We also have the Ranking Table - Ordered by Rank. It shows where each individual topic ranks relative all topics. Some may find his table helpful but if you want to simply things, everything you need is in the first table.
As you become more familiar with using the BattleActs system, take some time to explore the other features on the BattleActs Main Page. There's a lot there so you don't have do it all right at the beginning. An especially useful link is Direct Link to Web-Based Practice Problems. It provides unlimited practice for calculation problems.
Ranking Table - Ordered by Chapter
Syllabus readings for main chapters in Friedland (chapters 1-17) and Werner (chapters 1-16). (Rank is based on pts-per-exam over recent exams.)
Completion dates for pricing chapters are a rough guide only and are subject to change.

Ranking Table - Ordered by Rank
This is a rank-order listing of all readings on the Exam 5 syllabus. You can see that the top 20 chapters/reading account for 80% of the points on a typical exam. For the most part you still have to cover the chapters in numerical order but this table gives you a sense for how much time and effort you should devote to individual topics. If you use this information wisely you can save time while still maximizing your chances of passing the exam.
- Friedland chapters are shown with a light blue background.
- Werner chapters are shown with a white backgroud.
- Other pricing and reserving readings are shown with a grey background.
